Stylish Comfort for a green weekend

The Nook

The Nook Taliesin, perfect for West Wales weekends – Perffaith ar gyfer penwythnosau yn Orllewin Cymru

Spend a weekend in West Wales and immerse yourself in the unique Dyfi Biosphere (UNESCO Biosphere Reserve) with nature all around. The Nook is 10 minutes from Ynyslas Sands, nestled amongst the trees, Cambrian Mountains surrounding, and freedom to explore the local wildlife from the dolphins at Borth to Ospreys at Derwenlas, and owls hooting in starry night skies.

Run, swim, cycle, walk this area from paddle-boarding and surfing (Borth), mountain biking (Bwlch Nant Y Arian), hill running (Tan y Coed), and Motor Biking (we have breathtaking views on a variety of terrains).

Cultural activities are many and West Wales offers arts diversity from the brilliant Machynlleth Comedy Festivals (May) and Aberystwyth Comedy Festival (Sept), local food festivals like the Aberystwyth Street Food festival (August), the Laugharne Weekend known for its alternative authors and musical performances, or the Big Tribute Festival (August) with a fantasy line-up of superstar acts and cider too!

Staying at The Nook means you can enjoy every minute of your break in wild West Wales, all year round, a summer retreat or a winter hideaway – it’s a great base for your chill time, inspiration, rest or adventure.

About The Area – Yr Ardal

The Nook is in a great location in Tre-Taliesin village, just off the main road and with its own car parking. A short walk to the excellent Cletwr Cafe & Community Shop and also the Wildfowler Bar in Tre’r-Ddol.

It’s an easy location to access by public transport and by car, with access to essential amenities. It’s just 9 miles to Aberystwyth ‘culture capital of Wales’ and Machynlleth ‘the ancient capital of Wales’ with all their attractions and with places to see, great food choice, people to meet and experiences to be had.

As well as Ynyslas Beach with its sand dunes and beaches on our doorstep,  the wonderful Ynys-hir for bird-watching and nature enthusiasts with it’s 800 hectares of mountain, lowlands, bogs and marshes to explore, there are high end activities too – such as the wonderful Ynys-hir Michelin Star Restaurant with chef Gareth Ward is ready to provide an immersive culinary experience. Or there’s eco days out at the Centre for Alternative Technology in Machynlleth – where you can learn about the radical action needed to prevent climate breakdown with courses on a wide range of sustainability issues.

What our guests say

Beth mae ein gwesteion yn ei ddweud

The Nook is a fabulous place to stay for a short break in some of the most stunning countryside the UK has to offer.

It has everything you need – a really comfy bed, superbly equipped kitchen, luxurious bathroom, and a lovely patio for sitting in the sun. Everything – furnishings, equipment, decor – is of the highest quality. I went there to work for a few days and the wifi was more than up to the task. There’s a very good community shop and cafe in the next village and you’re only a short drive from Ynyslas Beach. Definitely bringing the dog next time! I can’t recommend highly enough.

Lucky to have been guests at The Nook

It’s a clean space, beautifully decorated, and has a very comfortable bed. There was a welcome hamper with essentials, including lovely toiletries. The Nook is situated near some lovely beaches, and the town is super friendly. We are grateful for our mini weekend away and recommend this place to everyone.

My partner and I had a fantastic time

The kitchen was beautifully decorated and had all of the equipment we needed for our stay. We made use of the private courtyard eating outside when the weather permitted. On arrival we were pleasantly surprised to find a basket of quality breakfast goodies which included locally sourced milk and a dairy alternative! We had great local recommendations for beaches, activities and food.

We will definitely be returning to The Nook!

It really is the most cosy and relaxing place to be

Truly the definition of a “Nook” offering seclusion and security. The kitchen was modern and fully equipped, down to fresh organic milk and cheese in the fridge! The rooms are spacious and spotless with a quirky, homely, fresh feel. A modern bathroom, always with hot water on tap. If you want a Bara Brith and a great coffee, the community cafe is just a short walk away, you can even walk there via the woods. If you need to spend time in a stress free zone, it’s the Nook for that relaxing break!
